13 yr old boy 👦🏻 had complaints of throat discomfort and inability to swallow since Saturday, consulted local doctor but had no relief so consulted our paediatrician Dr Mohit Vora sir on sunday, he presumed some neurological condition and referred to Me immediately.

While taking history , relatives showed his abnormal movements of mouth and told he is unable to swallow food or even water. Though local throat examination looked normal to me , I thought its something else as patient is not doing such mouth movements intentionally (like behavioural movements ). Then It came to my mind that , it’s fear of water n it could be Rabies. Then i asked history of dog 🐕 bite n then mother told he had dog bite 6 mnth back at ankle n showed the scar, but the relatives were saying its their pet dog n that dog is still alive 🤔 , but later they told me he had another dog bite by unknown dog later. When enquired abt Rabies vaccination after both dog bites? They said No, not taken vaccines they took some another natural remedies (फुटाणे @बिबी ) n thats it. Then my diagnosis Is sure. I confirmed fear of water (Hydrophobia) by showing him bottle full of water , and he immediately started throat chocking movements . N its now confirmed Rabies, (the deadly disease with no cure) 😓😓😓,

Please Advise general public abt timely rabies vaccination , And don’t take any dog bites lightly. Advise complete vaccination even though it’s pet dog bite to prevent such untimely loss of innocent life. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
