In this video you can see that this pug came with this growth in the lips.
Is this growth being tumorous or not?
No, this is not tumorous.
Then what is this growth?
This is Hyperplasia of left mandibular labial tissue causing lip fold dermatitis. Lip fold dermatitis is a chronic skin inflammation that occurs in breeds with drooping upper lips and lower lip folds. These lips often accumulate moisture, causing inflammation to develop. The condition may be worsened when poor oral hygiene results in high salivary bacterial counts. The lower lip folds can become very bad smelling, inflamed, uncomfortable, and swollen.
We have done resection of excessive lip fold, successfully managed by cheiloplasty.
What is Cheiloplasty?
Resection of excessive lip fold in a canine is a surgical procedure called cheiloplasty. It's used to treat lip fold intertrigo, a skin fold dermatitis that causes excessive drooling.
If your canine is going through this, you should consult with your veterinarian.
